Synopsis

The story unfolds in the imaginary provincial town of Koudounari. Penny and Likourgos Dalaouras are eagerly waiting for their daughter Lisa to return from London, where she’s been studying, to spend the summer holidays with them. Lisa brings along her Albanian boyfriend, Alfred. Fearing her parents’ prejudices, she keeps Alfred’s background to herself. But when they hear his European-sounding name and learn he’s coming from London, they assume he’s British – even a lord.

Lisa and Alfred’s upcoming wedding is at the heart of the story, serving as a lens through which we observe the flaws of a society obsessed with status and appearances. As two very different families come together, ambition, pretension and hypocrisy rise to the surface. With a lively mix of characters and subplots, the story becomes a classic farce – traditional in form yet sharply modern in spirit.
